Learn more about ULI's Technical Assistance Panels!
April 21, 2014
Following a number of years of work on the Great Streets initiative along Natural Bridge Road and an insightful Technical Assistance Panel from ULI St. Louis, the pieces are falling into place for a transformation along Natural Bridge, through the University of Missouri – St. Louis.
University Square, a formal collaboration between UMSL, North County Incorporated and the City of Normandy, was formed to lead redevelopment and spur economic development along Natural Bridge Road. Bound by I-70 to the North, I-170 to the West, Lucas & Hunt Road to the East, and St. Charles Rock Road to the South, University Square provides the University and the surrounding communities with a redevelopment tool to help reshape and promote growth in the area.
The formation of the Chapter 353 redevelopment tool was a key recommendation of a 2012 ULI St. Louis TAP led by Andy Barnes, principal of Artisan Building Co. and the ULI member who led the Technical Assistance Panel in 2012.
“It’s really rewarding to see some of the TAP recommendations come to life,” said Andy. “For this panel, the ULI members were really energized by the potential that surrounded the UMSL South MetroLink Station and its connection with the University and the Great Streets work. It will be great to see it take shape in the coming years.”
