This is big – St. Louis is just the fourth locality in the entire country to enact a Building Energy Performance Standard (BEPS) after New York City, Washington D.C., and the state of Washington.

Passed unanimously during a virtual meeting of the St. Louis Board of Alderman on April 20th and signed into law on May 5th, the BEPS policy directly affects the real estate market. BEPS sets a baseline of energy performance by building type, and requires owners of buildings over 50,000 square feet to meet those standards or make energy efficiency improvements to comply (or else face a penalty), which continually drives improvements as the standards increase over time.

Moderated by ULI’s global Greenprint Center, join this Candid Conversation with Rajiv Ravulapati of the City of St. Louis who will introduce the legislation, and Kimberly Pexton from JBG Smith who will share her company's strategy to prepare for and comply with a parallel policy in Washington D.C.

This program is for ULI members and sponsors only and designed to provide a forum for discussion among all participants – both attendees and guest speakers. To facilitate the conversation, attendance numbers may be limited.
