If ever there were a time to think big, to re-think the status quo and push forward, upward – together – it’s now. ULI STL has heard from dozens of you that “We need a plan!” In response, we’re asking…What sort of plan do we need? What could it look like? Who should shepherd it? Land use doesn’t operate in a vacuum; it’s tied to neighborhood development, economic development, equity, and you.

To figure this out, together, we are charting a course that will ask, align, and then act. We’re asking for your help. We’re asking you to think big with us.

Borrowing a quote from tennis great and Sumner High grad, Arthur Ashe, ULI STL is going to be working within the following framework:
    • Start where you are. It’s a time of discovery and inventory. A time to ask, where are we today and what do we want for our future?
    • Use what you have. Take time to analyze what we have and shape and align ideas for where we want to go and what we want for our future.
    • Do what you can. Refine the ideas and approach… and act.
As we start where we are, experts will join us May 28 to share what they know and where they have been, to help us shape our future. From an advocate for comprehensive planning in Ms. Austin, to the creator of a practical guidebook for communities and developers to tactically shape their environment in Mr. Wright, to local STL experts with Ms. Clark and Mr. Roe, we'll hear a variety of perspectives on expert planning initiatives.
